Margaret Mitchell’s House

I would like to tell about a famous place in Atlanta, called “Margaret Mitchell’s House”. It is the home where Margaret Mitchell lived when she wrote “Gone With The Wind”. They have exhibits of Margaret's newspaper articles, and a constantly running film about the premiere of the movie in Atlanta. The tour is about 35 minutes long and consists of a discussion of some pictures and things from Margaret's life, and then a tour of the apartment where she and John lived. No, it is not the original furniture, because the place has been burned down twice, and been rebuilt, but they appear to have kept everything as close to the original as possible. For example, the typewriter is not the original one but the tour guide said that he had observed the original and did not see the difference in comparing them. I think this is recognition of history, good will, and some appreciation of the book that should not be missed. We enjoyed hearing the story of how the book came to be. The docents are very friendly and knowledgeable.
